Every business has a story, and this is how Bloom Boutique began.
It all started with the beautiful bouquet my coworkers sent after my mother's funeral.
My mom loved flowers and owned several greenhouses while I was growing up. Flowers were such a special part of her life, and I couldn't bear the thought of throwing them away once they began to fade.
Instead, I preserved them.
From that bouquet, I created my very first pressed floral keepsake—a wreath-shaped frame. I also made floral monograms for our family so each of us would have a special piece to remember her.
As I shared photos of those keepsakes, people began asking if I could preserve flowers for them. They would bring me their bouquets, and I would create the best keepsake I could. But after every project, I found myself with so many beautiful flowers left over.
That's when the idea for the Bloom Bar blossomed, and I knew it was time to make it official and get a business license.
My vision was to create a mobile Bloom Bar where we could bring preserved flowers and all the supplies needed for families, friends, and groups to design their own keepsake frames together.
None of this would have been possible without one of my very best friends. She's been by my side since day one and is one of the hardest-working people I know. I'm so thankful we've been able to build this dream together.
These photos are from our very first Bloom Bar. I remember being so nervous. Would I have enough blooms? Would people enjoy creating keepsakes as much as I did? Would anyone even sign up?
Looking back now, I think having nine people attend our very first Bloom Bar was an incredible blessing! Since then, we've hosted Bloom Bars for so many wonderful groups, and we've even traveled all the way to Florida for a very special bridal Bloom Bar.
As the business continued to grow, I found myself buying flowers, picking flowers, and gladly accepting flowers from friends and family. I pressed flowers every single day—often from morning until night. Looking back, I know God's hand was in every step. After 24 years in my government career, I never would have imagined taking an early retirement and now pressing flowers... yet here I am, absolutely loving every minute of it.
From there, Bloom Boutique continued to blossom. We began creating custom bridal and memorial keepsakes, participating in local events to introduce our business to the community, and building relationships with so many wonderful customers and fellow small business owners.
And here we are today.
Still doing what we love. Still honored every time someone trusts us with their most meaningful flowers. And still praying that we always follow where God leads. Even when the path doesn't look the way we imagined, He has always made it beautiful, and every step has been a blessing.
Thank you to every person who has supported Bloom Boutique—from attending a Bloom Bar, trusting us with your flowers, sharing our work, or simply cheering us on. What started with one bouquet filled with love has grown into something I could have never imagined, and for that, I am forever grateful.
